Basic structure of rigid endoscope camera
To properly use a rigid endoscope, you should understand its structure. At present, the products of various hard tube endoscope production plants in the world have different optical paths and different appearances, but their basic structures are the same: they consist of a working lens tube part, a structural part, an eye mask part, and an optical cable interface part. The main body portion of the structure, the eye mask portion, and the cable interface portion are not easily damaged except for severe bumping. The most vulnerable part is the working camera tube section. Taking a φ4mm rigid endoscope as an example: the working camera tube is mainly composed of four parts: an outer tube, an endoscope tube, an optical lens, and an optical fiber.The optical lens is placed in the endoscope tube to form an optical system, and the optical fiber is placed between the inner and outer camera tubes for illumination. The outer tube is a 0.1mm thick and φ4mm stainless steel tube which it is deformed easily by bumping or squeezing. Most of the optical lenses are glass columns of φ2.8mm and 25mm long. They will crack, collapse or shift the optical axis when they are slightly bumped and squeezed. Why our common endoscopes have blurred vision and black edges, that is the reason. The optical fiber is made of extremely fine optical glass. A φ4mm speculum should be installed with more than 1500 pieces. In the outer tube, external force will cause the wire broken to affect the illuminance. The connection of the various mechanisms of the rigid endoscope is mostly bonded with epoxy glue. The quality of the glue and the packaging technology also affect the service life of the endoscope. Although the rigid endoscope is delicate, it will not be damaged if it can be used and maintained correctly.

However, when using other instruments, especially for clamps and scissors with large bite force, please note that the front end of the lens tube should not protrude into the occlusal area of the instrument to avoid accidental injury to the lens tube. When using such instruments, sometimes the operator stretches the endoscope very close to the tissue in order to see the tissue in the occlusal area. When the instrument is engaged, the endoscope camera does not return and the endoscope is accidentally injured. Such accidents can be avoided by paying attention to the occlusion of the instrument during the operation of the scope.

How to maintain the rigid tube endoscope camera?The rigid endoscope camera should be kept in a special counter and placed in a special box with a soft sponge or polyurethane foam. All endoscopes should be placed neatly and tidy. Do not overlap. After the cover is closed, the internal scope and other instruments will not collide with each other during handling. Since the endoscope‘s lens tube is very thin, it will be bent and deformed due to crushing, bumping, bending, landing, etc., resulting in lens damage or optical axis shift, resulting in unclear or unusable images, so take it out of the box, or put into the tube endoscope, should be flat with both hands, gently remove or put in. When the endoscope camera is moved in a rigid container such as a tray, be careful to place it separately from other instruments. Do not over-bounce to avoid collision of endoscope. A desiccant should be provided in the package to keep the inside of the box be dry.

Common rigid endoscopes are not resistant to high temperature and high pressure, mainly because the packaging adhesive will deteriorate and deform at high temperatures, and the glue on the endoscopy will open, endoscope is easy into the water, so it can not be disinfected by high temperature and high pressure methods such as boiling and high pressure steam. Most of the rigid endoscope damaged because of inadvertent maintenance, bumping, landing, etc. There are also problems with the packaging glue, packaging technology, and packaging structure of individual manufacturers, which cause the phenomenon of water injection and the glue opening, all these problems can be repaired.
