 -----The difference between the LED screen and the CRT screen of the endoscope camera

In industrial endoscopes, there is an electronic endoscope also called video endoscope. What types of video endoscopes are there so far? Generally it can be divided into two types, one is LED screen, and the other is CRT screen. While which of the two is better? Let‘s talk about these differences as below now.

LED is the abbreviation of Light Emitting Diode. It was invented in 1962. It is a special semiconductor diode. After the LED is applied with positive electrode voltage, it is injected into the N region from the P region and injected into the N region. The electrons to the P region are recombined with the electrons of the N region and the holes of the P region within a few micrometers near the PN junction, to generate fluorescence of spontaneous emission. Early LED have low brightness and are mostly used as indicator lights. In recent years, high-power and high-brightness LEDs have appeared, so LEDs have been gradually applied to the field of lighting.

CRT is the abbreviation of Cathode Ray Tube, which was invented by German Karl Ferdinand Braun in 1897 and is also called "picture tube". CRT is a special kind of electron tube. When working, the cathode is heated by the filament to a very high temperature to release electrons. After the electron is accelerated by the electric field and focused, it is deflected by the magnetic field and finally hits the phosphor of the anode screen accurately. The phosphor is illuminated. CRT has been widely used in display devices such as televisions and computer monitors and now it was used on some endoscope camera. However, due to its large size and heavy weight, and X-rays generated during work, it has been gradually eliminated. It is difficult to see CRT TVs and monitors on the market. However, CRT is still used in special occasions, because CRT is superior to currently widely used LEDs in terms of color reproduction. The figure below shows a CRT and a display using a CRT as a display device.
 
The detailed differences are as follows:

1, Degree of radiation

     CRT monitors usually use a metal cover to shield electromagnetic radiation, and the CRT display plastic cover is not strong against radiation. While the LED monitor and the display do not radiate electromagnetic waves at all, but the LED monitor is an all-metal cover that is effective in shielding large external electric field disturbances.

2. Scene recovery

     The monitor will actually reproduce the scene being monitored and strive to be realistic. The renderer will set off the picture, and the picture quality is more suitable for appreciation, so it is impossible to recover the actual monitoring scene.

3. The resolution

     CRT monitors typically have up to 625 lines (interlaced) / 1250 (progressive) lines, and the number of CRT scan lines is significantly lower. Equal-size LED monitor resolution and LCD renderer resolution are more appropriate.

 

4.The frequency of rewriting

     Usually the colorful monitor rewrite frequency should be below 50Hz (analog), and the usual computer display is easy to 75hz.
